About Sean
A $5 minimum donation is required to run, this will be collected during the check-in at each Location.

Sean English was 16 years old and in process of completing his junior year at The University of Detroit Jesuit High School (U of D), when he witnessed an accident on I-96 while on his way to church; a vehicle overturned in front of him. Without hesitation, Sean stopped and exited his car to render aid to the overturned vehicle when another car lost control and entered the accident scene. Sean was trapped between his car and the out of control vehicle, struck by the vehicle and sustained significant injuries due to the impact. The accident on the morning of April 2nd resulted in a below knee amputation of the right leg, broken femur on the left leg requiring a titanium rod to stabilize the bone, torn MCL on the left knee, torn ACL of the left knee, severe skin shear on the left leg causing skin grafts, left foot tendon and ligament damage, bone chip of the left wrist, bone chip of the left elbow and cuts on his forehead that required stitches. He had to endure 7 painful surgeries in two months in an attempt to repair the damage from the accident, changing his life forever.
His runner career seemed to be taking off, sophomore season found him injury free and competing for the top five runners on the Cross Country team in the fall and he won the Catholic League 1,600 meter run in the spring with a time of 4:29. Junior year, had him solidifying the top runner spot on the Cross Country team with times in the low 16’s and enjoyed an undefeated dual meet Catholic League season.

Sean is a top student earning a 3.5 GPA this last semester; he was also elected by the student body to Student Council as the Secretary for the 2017-2018 school year; he has also served as a Big Brother to the younger students.
